The salon industry is driven by emerging trends and innovations that transform the way salons operate and how clients experience beauty services. As clients demand more customised, eco-friendly, and tech-enhanced services, leading salon owners do a trend forecast by 2025. Take a look.
Renu Kant, Founder-Envi Salons: The top hair and beauty trend shaping the salon industry in 2025 is likely to be personalised beauty powered by AI and sustainability-focused innovations. AI-driven tools will enable hyper-personalisation, offering clients customised haircare and beauty treatments based on their unique features, preferences and lifestyle.
Virtual consultations and augmented reality technology will help clients visualise changes before committing, enhancing trust and satisfaction. Simultaneously, eco-conscious practices will dominate, with salons adopting sustainable products, refillable packaging, and energy-efficient operations. Consumers are increasingly prioritising brands and services that align with environmental values, making this a pivotal shift. Together, these trends will redefine the salon experience, combining innovation with responsibility.
Vaishakhi Haria, Founder-Splash Salons: Specialised services will be a boom in 2025. The entire trend of clients is shifting from ‘all services under one roof’ to ‘specialist services’. Artists are opening boutique setups as per their expertise and clients don’t mind visiting different salons for different services. One of my salons provides only hair services and it has been a successful venture since 5 years.
Vikas Marwah, Founder-Vikas Marwah Hair Salon: The key trend is the seamless integration of personalised beauty technology with eco-conscious practices. As consumers increasingly seek tailored, bespoke experiences, the use of advanced AI such as skin, hair and scalp-scanning technology will allow salons to offer hyper-customised treatments from haircare to skincare. One can expect a surge in salons adopting green, zero-waste practices, utilising organic, cruelty-free products, and implementing energy-efficient technologies. This blend of cutting-edge personalisation and eco-conscious luxury will redefine what it means to indulge in hair and beauty treatments, creating a holistic, elevated experience that blends innovation with responsibility.
Natasha Naegamvala, Director, Nalini of Nalini & Yasmin Salon: In 2025, there is going to be a big trend shift in regards to cuts and colours. Earlier, the trend was blended colour and slightly more structured haircuts. This year, it’s going to be the reverse. Haircuts will become breezier and the colour will be more structured. For instance, the bob cut will be in but a lot more layered. There will be the Bixy cut, which is a combination of bob and pixy cuts. The interpretation is that it is easier in maintenance. Loose, open curls like the curly shag or bob or curly short hair in cuts are also in. Colours will be more streaky—whether it is global or streaks or bolder colours. The big, bleachy highlights with elements of streaks will be in trend. Vibrant reds have made a comeback. The one trend that is going to be really popular is the salt and pepper look. Grey natural sort if hair colour is also popular.
